Ruxton Health, in Williamsburg, Virginia, is once again facing legal retribution.
Following the abuse case of Lorina Ann Wiggins, Ruxton is being investigated for another complaint regarding a woman known only as “Resident No. 8.” According to a family member, a month after being admitted to the home, Resident No. 8 was found “extremely ill looking, shaking, had breathing problems, purple feet, mouth was black with sores, reddened face, screaming for help, holding her stomach and soaked with urine.”
The staff at Ruxton insisted she was in no imminent danger, but the family demanded she be taken to the emergency room. She was admitted to the intensive care unit and died two days later.
These two cases are merely few of many complaints regarding Ruxton’s care. Twenty-two allegations have been filed recently, including staff members neglecting to feed a patient regularly, dirty rooms and flies on residents, residents lying in their own urine, staff members not giving medications on time, and the facility not taking the proper precautions to avoid pressure sores on residents. In one case, hospital officials examined a man who was supposed to be tube-fed every three hours only to find that he had missed about 75 feedings in a period of three months.
